Aboitiz Power Corporation, through its subsidiary Therma Marine Inc. (TMI), has officially launched the construction of its 48-megawatt Nasipit Hybrid Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Agusan del Norte. The new system, integrated into the TMI Mobile 2 oil-fired power facility, is set to be operational by the second quarter of 2026.
This initiative follows the successful installation of a hybrid BESS at the TMI Mobile 1 oil-fired power plant in Maco, Davao de Oro, which commenced commercial operations in 2022.
Ronaldo Ramos, Chief Operating Officer for Operated Assets at AboitizPower’s Transition Business Group, highlighted the project’s importance: "Once completed, the Nasipit BESS project will help enable more grid stability and support the growing share of renewable energy in our grid. It’s a smart solution for a smarter energy landscape."
The Nasipit BESS project is a significant step in Aboitiz Power's continued efforts to integrate advanced energy solutions to support the Philippines' transition to a more sustainable and reliable energy future.
