ACWA Power brings 200 MW solar power plant on line in Uzbekistan

Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power Co (TADAWUL:2082) has started commercial operation of a 200-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan.

The company said in a stock exchange announcement last week that its Riverside project has secured Commercial Operation Certificate for its 200-MW solar component. The facility will also include a 334-MW/550-MWh battery storage system, the construction of which is in progress.

ACWA Power is delivering the project under a Build, Own, Operate, Transfer basis. The plant will be operated under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the JSC National Electrical Grid of Uzbekistan.

The developer secured financing for the Riverside project earlier this year.

ACWA Power recently obtained debt for its 100-MW Nukus 1 wind project in Uzbekistan, as well as financing to support the construction of two solar parks with a combined capacity of 1 GW, two batteries of 334 MW each and 500 km of high-voltage transmission lines in Uzbekistan.
