Axpo Activates 12.8-MWp Rooftop Solar Array in France

Swiss renewables company and energy trader Axpo Holding AG announced on Monday that a 12.8-MWp rooftop solar array it built in the French town of Beauvais reached commercial operation.

The plant’s solar panels cover an area of 62,000 square metres (667,362 sq ft), perched on an industrial rooftop space owned by French real estate development company Percier Realisation et Developpement (PRD).

The project was realised by Axpo’s subsidiary Urbasolar in partnership with PRD and investment manager Harbert Management Corporation (HMC). According to Axpo, the Beauvais system is the largest rooftop solar plant in France and is expected to generate around 13 GWh of electricity per year.

Axpo, through Urbasolar, has so far installed over 190 MWp of rooftop solar systems in France. The company also provides other solar solutions in the country, such as building ground-mounted plants, car park canopies, greenhouses, agrivoltaics and floating photovoltaics.
