BayWa r.e. Malaysia to boost market in country’s renewable energy

BayWa r.e. Malaysia has pledged to boost its presence in the country’s renewable energy market.

For this, the company, a unit of renewable energy giant BayWa r.e. AG, has focused on more local residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. Besides, it is also focused on greenfield development of solar farms.

The company made its presence in Malaysia in 2017.

According to the company’s managing director Niranpal Singh, though there is a saturated solar renewable energy business, there is a huge demand for solar distribution in Malaysia.

A local report mentioned that the company shared that it plans to “provide accessible RE to homeowners and commercial and industrial (C&I) corporations to help reduce their energy bills and encourage the public to explore carbon-free energy solutions.”

So far, the company has already sold two solar farms to a local independent power producer, reNIKOLA Sdn Bhd.

“Moving forward, we are looking at similar partnerships with solar companies that are looking for a trustable distributor. Our focus in Malaysia is to continue with the strategy of greenfield development for solar farms,” Niranpal was quoted.

He added that Malaysia is a key market for BayWa r.e, since it had won the first round of the large scale solar photovoltaic project under a consortium.

Currently, BayWa r.e. informed that it has a solar distribution business in 20 countries across Europe, America, Asia, and Oceania.
