The project will be installed in two phases.
Basic Energy Corporation and the Pangasinan 1 Electric Cooperative (PANELCO 1) signed a memorandum of understanding for a distribution impact study and distribution asset study for a 50-megawatt (MW) solar power project with a battery energy storage system (BESS).
In a disclosure, Basic Energy said that the studies are important to “optimise distribution networks and enhance the reliability of PANELCO I’s current infrastructure” and will also enable seamless integration of renewable sources in the cooperative’s infrastructure.
The studies are necessary as they will assess the compatibility of the cooperative’s transmission and substations with the solar plant’s production.
It will also look into the status of the transmission system and will determine the improvements needed to align with the plant’s solar plant production.
The project will be developed in two phases with the first phase being the 10-megawatt and BESS, whilst the second phase will install the remaining 40 MW.
