Colombian utility Celsia has acquired a 375MW solar PV portfolio from Mainstream Renewable Power, reinforcing its commitment to renewable energy development in Colombia. The deal also includes two wind projects, further diversifying its clean energy pipeline.
The newly acquired portfolio comprises three solar projects in various stages of development:
Andrómeda (100MW) in Sucre – the most advanced project, with completed pre-construction and grid interconnection to the Toluviejo 220kV substation.
Pollux (100MW) in Casanare.
Aries (175MW) in Córdoba.
Celsia President Ricardo Sierra emphasized the strategic value of the Andrómeda project, citing its development maturity and prime location. Construction is expected to commence by late 2025 or early 2026.
This acquisition brings Celsia significantly closer to its target of reaching 1GW of operational solar and wind capacity by 2027. The company currently operates 339MW of renewable assets and has 300MW under construction.
With this strategic move, Celsia continues to lead Colombia’s clean energy transition, strengthening its position in the Latin American renewables market.
