Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) is finalizing fundraising for its Copenhagen Infrastructure V (CI V) fund, exceeding its initial target of €12 billion, excluding co-investments. The strong investor interest reflects confidence in CIP’s industrial approach to large-scale energy infrastructure investments.
CI V is dedicated to accelerating the energy transition, focusing on technologies such as wind, solar PV, and battery storage across low-risk OECD markets in Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific. The fund has already committed 60% of its capital, making six final investment decisions (FIDs) and ensuring rapid capital deployment and early value creation.
With ownership of over 50 development-stage projects representing a €24 billion investment volume, CI V is on track to be fully committed within the next year. The fund is expected to add 30 GW of new energy capacity to the global grid, enough to power over 10 million households.
As electricity demand surges, driven by digitalization, AI, data center expansion, and electrification, the need for new power generation capacity has never been greater. Renewables, particularly solar and onshore wind, remain the most cost-effective and scalable solutions, supporting industrial competitiveness, energy security, and sustainability goals worldwide.
