Copel Geracao to acquire 260.4MW wind complexes in Brazil



Brazilian energy company Copel Geracao e Transmissao is all set to acquire 100% of the Santa Rosa & Mundo Novo (SRMN) and Aventura wind farms.

For this, the company has already signed an agreement. These projects are owned by EDP Renovaveis Brasil.

According to the company, the wind complexes have a combined installed capacity of 260.4MW. The complex has nine operating wind farms.

The wind farms are located in the municipalities of Touros and Sao Tome in Rio Grande do Norte State.

As per Copel Geracao e Transmissao, the total value of the transaction is 1.803 billion reais ($345 million).

It has been reported that “the acquisition forms part of Copel’s growth strategy in renewable energy, expands the diversification of the power generation matrix and is fully in line with its investment policy.”

Following the current development, the company shared that its wind power generation installed capacity will grow by 28%. It will also further allow the company for operational synergy with other companies.
