CREC and Sungrow Ink Agreement for 1.5GWh Battery Energy Storage Project

The deal also covers engineering and construction design.

Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) has signed a supply and services agreement with Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd. (Sungrow) for the procurement of 1.5 gigawatt-hours worth of battery energy storage systems (BESS) to be used in the energy firm’s solar power projects across the Philippines.

In a bourse filing, CREC said Sungrow will also provide support for the engineering and construction design to ensure the accurate application of the BESS to the solar facilities.

“With these installed together within our solar facilities, we will be able to provide needed power on a mid-merit basis,” said CREC President and CEO Oliver Tan.

Sungrow will be providing its Power Titan series which supports both DC and AC coupling, with its lower Leverage Cost of Electricity (LCOE), higher performance, and easier operations and maintenance.

CREC plans to utilise BESS to implement load shifting, storing excess solar energy for consumption during peak demand periods.
