DRI, the EU renewables arm of Ukraine's DTEK, has strengthened its renewable energy presence in Romania with the grid connection of the 60 MWp Glodeni II solar park in Mureș County. This marks DRI's third operational project in the country, bringing its total renewable capacity to 173 MW.
Glodeni II, with an estimated annual output of 86.4 GWh, can power over 22,400 homes annually while reducing carbon emissions by 21,800 tonnes. Combined with the 53 MWp Glodeni I solar park, the two facilities form one of Romania's largest solar installations.
As part of a physical power purchase agreement (PPA) with OMV Petrom S.A., DRI will supply 62% of the energy produced by Glodeni I and II, contributing to Romania’s renewable energy goals. DRI remains open to discussions with additional offtakers for future partnerships.
Ivan Geliukh, CEO of DRI, expressed pride in the achievement: “The operational launch of Glodeni II is a major milestone for DRI in 2025. This success reflects our in-house expertise in managing complex projects and the strong collaboration with our contractors and national operators.”
In addition to Glodeni I and II, DRI operates the 60 MWp Ruginoasa wind farm in Iași County, Romania's first new wind project in a decade, operational since December 2023. The company is also preparing to start construction on two new solar projects: a 126 MWp solar park in Văcărești, Dâmbovița County, and another in the Bucharest region.
