DRI, the EU renewables arm of DTEK, has signed a €24.7 million non-recourse financing agreement with Kommunalkredit Austria AG to support the construction and operation of its 60MWp Glodeni II solar park in Mureș County, Romania.
Glodeni II is DRI’s second solar park in Romania, following the successful operation of Glodeni I (53MW). Proceeds from the financing will be used to fund a portion of required capital expenditures, along with refundable VAT.
Project Highlights:
Location: Adjacent to DRI’s existing Glodeni I solar park, creating one of Romania’s largest solar complexes.
Completion: Expected in early 2025.
Impact: Powers 22,400 homes and reduces 21,800 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
Construction: Managed by DRI’s in-house team.
This marks the second financing collaboration between DRI and Kommunalkredit, following a €55 million package in 2023 for DRI’s 60MW Ruginoasa wind farm—the first wind project built in Romania in a decade.
Strategic Vision:
DRI aims to deliver 1GW of renewables and battery storage in Romania by 2030.
The company is set to begin construction of a fourth Romanian project, a 126MW solar park near Bucharest, in 2025.
Across Europe, DRI targets 5GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, with a current pipeline of 1.3GW spanning Croatia, Italy, Poland, and Romania.
DRI continues to drive green energy growth across Europe, cementing its role as a major contributor to the region’s energy transition.
