Eaton is investing $340 million to expand U.S. production of three-phase transformers, addressing the growing demand across utilities, industrials, data centers, and commercial sectors.
The company will establish a new manufacturing facility in Jonesville, South Carolina, expected to begin operations and hiring in 2027. Eaton will also continue manufacturing transformers at its two Wisconsin plants.
The expansion aims to strengthen the reliability of the power grid as electricity demand surges. “Our solutions power everything from the utility grid to industries and data centers,” said Mike Yelton, President, Americas Region, Electrical Sector, Eaton. “We’re proud to grow our operations in South Carolina, a state with a rich history of manufacturing and innovation.”
Eaton’s investment will bring 700 jobs to Union County. The company is working closely with readySC and regional schools to support training and hiring. The project is backed by local, state, and federal incentives.
✅ Gov. Henry McMaster: “Eaton’s growth reaffirms South Carolina’s world-class workforce and strong business environment.”
✅ Sen. Lindsey Graham: “This investment strengthens our state’s leadership in grid modernization.”
✅ Sen. Tim Scott: “Eaton’s expansion fuels job creation and economic growth.”
Eaton will continue transformer production at its Waukesha, Wisconsin facility and manufacture single-phase pole-mount and pad-mount transformers in Nacogdoches, Texas.
With this investment, Eaton is set to play a pivotal role in modernizing the U.S. energy infrastructure while driving job creation and innovation in South Carolina.
