Israel's Econergy Renewable Energy Ltd and French independent asset manager Rgreen Invest have kicked off commercial operations at a 92-MW solar park in the Transylvania region of central Romania.
Located in Parau, Brasov County, the photovoltaic (PV) park will be capable of generating electricity to supply roughly 70,000 homes per year, Econergy said in a LinkedIn post on Monday. The Israeli group provided engineering, procurement and construction management services during the building activities and will deliver asset management services for the plant for the next 10 years.
The Parau park was built with a EUR-50-million (USD 53.1m) debt and equity financing contribution by RGreen Invest made in February 2022.
Currently, Econergy has 247 MW of installed renewable energy capacity in Romania and a pipeline of nearly 500 MW. Last November, the Israeli company and its compatriot Nofar Energy officially opened the 154-MW Ratesti solar park in Romania’s Arges county, touted as the largest PV complex in southeastern Europe.
