EDF Renewables and Enbridge Launch 577 MW Solar Project to Power Amazon

EDF Renewables North America and Enbridge Inc. announced the full operational status of the Amazon Solar Farm Ohio – Fox Squirrel Solar project in December 2024.

This large-scale, ground-mounted facility, with a total capacity of 577 MWac/749 MWdc, is now actively supplying power to the PJM grid and is one of the largest utility-scale solar projects east of the Mississippi River.

Located in Madison County, Ohio, the Fox Squirrel Solar project consists of 1.4 million panels and 159 inverters. Developed by EDF Renewables and co-owned with Enbridge, the project has been crucial in addressing the growing energy demand in central Ohio.

During peak construction, 650 workers installed about 10,000 panels per day, totaling nearly 1.5 million work hours.

All the power generated will be delivered to Amazon under a power purchase agreement (PPA), contributing to Amazon's Climate Pledge. This project is also expected to support Ohio’s goal of attracting more businesses and driving economic growth in the state.
