Edison Next, a subsidiary of EDF and the EDISON group, has been selected by the Community of Irrigators of Villafranca de Córdoba (Andalusia) to advance their self-consumption strategy. Partnering with Elmya Instalaciones, an expert in photovoltaic self-consumption, the project aims to promote sustainable energy and reduce operational costs.
The installation will consist of 1,188 high-efficiency photovoltaic modules, with a power output of 653.4 kWp. The system will use three three-phase inverters and an autotransformer to match the community’s energy needs. The project will help increase energy efficiency, reduce irrigation energy costs, and decrease carbon emissions.
This self-consumption PPA project allows the community to harness the energy generated without upfront investment, leading to significant savings and a lower carbon footprint. The initiative supports Edison Next’s commitment to sustainability and provides energy independence for the community, contributing to a cleaner future.
José Antonio de la Rosa, President of the Community of Irrigators, highlighted the financial and environmental benefits, while Manuel Barrera from Edison Next emphasized the importance of sustainable energy in the agricultural sector. Elmya Instalaciones’ Laura Montero López noted the strategic partnership that fosters innovation and sustainability.
This photovoltaic self-consumption installation showcases the positive impact of combining innovation and sustainability in agriculture, delivering both economic and environmental benefits.
