EDP Renewables North America LLC inaugurated on Tuesday the 300 MW combined Sandrini I & II Solar Energy Park in Kern County, Southern California.

The facility consists of 200-MW Sandrini I and 100-MW Sandrini II and was put into operation in the last quarter of 2024. Sandrini I has a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Shell Energy North America (SENA), while the electricity from Sandrini II is sold to Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA) under a 15-year deal.
Power from the two-phase solar energy park should be enough to meet the demand of more than 100,000 Californian homes.
Sandrini I alone is capable of powering around 76,000 local households each year, while Sandrini II's output will provide over a third of the total annual electric need for customers of RCEA's community choice energy programme, EDPR North America noted.
"Sandrini I & II represent EDP Renewables' continued commitment to investing in California and are a direct contribution to California's admirable target of achieving 100 percent clean electricity by 2045," added Sandhya Ganapathy, CEO of EDP Renewables North America.
