Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has inked a deal with a consortium for the development of a hydro-floating solar hybrid project in Thailand.
EGAT signed a contract with the industry leaders for the 24MW project to be built at Ubol Ratana Dam in Khon Kaen Province.
The agreement has been signed with MPD Consortium, which includes Mitr Phol Energy Services, PEA ENCOM International, and Dongfang Electric International Corporation for the project.
According to Boonyanit Wongrukmit, EGAT’s governor, “the project is a part of EGAT’s clean energy development strategy, as the company plans to develop an additional 15 hydro-floating solar hybrid projects nationwide to support renewable energy demands sustainably according to the national policy.”
It informed that this project would generate clean electricity by using a hybrid system combining solar power and hydropower along with a battery energy storage system (BESS).
According to Payomsarit Sripattananon, acting executive vice president of PEA ENCOM, this project could boost Thailand’s clean energy stability.
Meanwhile, the authority plans to develop an additional 15 hydro-floating solar hybrid projects across the country. It will be in line with the national policy.
EGAT informed that it operates the organization using the “Triple S” strategy including Sources Transformation and Support Measures Mechanism.
