EnBW Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG (ETR:EBK) has started construction on the 87.6-MW Gorlsdorf solar park, located in Vierlinden in Brandenburg, Germany. Expected to power around 35,000 homes annually, the solar park is set for completion and grid connection by the end of next year.
EnBW plans to equip the park with a 13.4-MWh battery energy storage system to optimize grid feed-in.
The site, situated in the Märkisch-Oderland district, required significant preparation due to its history as a battlefield in the 1945 'Battle of the Seelow Heights.' EnBW undertook comprehensive ordnance clearance, uncovering munitions and conducting controlled detonations where needed.
Vierlinden’s mayor, Constantin Schütze, along with other local officials, attended the groundbreaking ceremony. The project is estimated to generate EUR 170,000 (USD 183,300) annually over its operational life.
With the Gorlsdorf project, EnBW moves closer to its 1.2-GW PV capacity target by 2025. Recently, EnBW also won contracts for an additional 184 MW across seven solar parks in Germany, further supporting its renewable energy goals and Germany's clean energy transition.
