ENGIE and Meta announced the completion of a second Environmental Attributes Purchase Agreement (EAPA) in 2024. Under the deal, ENGIE will supply 200 MW of renewable energy and associated environmental attributes from its Anson 2 solar project in Jones County, Texas, which is expected to begin operations in late 2025.
The Anson 2 project, located northwest of Abilene, Texas, will be developed, constructed, and operated by ENGIE. This agreement adds to the more than 12 GW of renewable energy Meta has already secured, advancing their commitment to clean energy and net zero emissions, which Meta has maintained globally since 2020.
Dave Carroll, ENGIE North America's Chief Renewables Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded partnership, emphasizing their shared goal to meet the increasing demand for clean energy in the U.S. and support Meta’s growth. The 200 MW addition is part of ENGIE's ongoing commitment to delivering renewable energy solutions that align with customer needs.
Urvi Parekh, Meta’s Global Head of Energy, highlighted the importance of the collaboration with ENGIE in driving their clean energy transition. The Anson 2 project will also provide significant local economic benefits, generating over $56 million in tax revenue and employing more than 300 workers, many of whom will be local.
Once operational, Anson 2 will contribute to ENGIE's North American portfolio, which includes around 8 GW of renewable projects in solar, wind, and battery storage.
