ENGIE and Sanofi have entered into groundbreaking Biomethane Purchase Agreements (BPAs), marking a significant step towards decarbonizing 56% of Sanofi's gas consumption in France starting in 2025.
The agreement, finalized in 2024, involves the procurement of 1.4 TWh of renewable gas, including a 6-year BPA for 1.3 TWh, backed by Renewable Gas Guarantees of Origin (RGGO). Additionally, a 10-year BPA for 110 GWh will be dedicated to decarbonizing Sanofi’s Lyon site.
Sanofi, already a longstanding partner of ENGIE, has been a pioneer in adopting renewable energy solutions and was among the first to join ENGIE’s biomethane initiative in France. This new partnership further solidifies the collaboration between the two companies, which also covers the supply of electricity and gas across Europe.
With this new agreement, ENGIE and Sanofi continue their joint efforts to drive sustainability and transition to a low-carbon economy.
