Engie Brasil Launches First Phase of 752 MW Solar Complex

ENGIE has officially launched commercial operations at its Assú Sol Photovoltaic Complex in Assu, Rio Grande do Norte. The first plant, contributing 5.4% of the total capacity, was activated on January 8, just 18 months after the project began in Q3 2023.

This R$3.3 billion investment will feature 16 solar parks, delivering a total installed capacity of 752 MWac (895 MWp) and a commercial capacity of 228.7 MW average. All energy generated is exclusively allocated to the Free Market.

“This milestone highlights our dedication to timely delivery and operational excellence,” said Eduardo Takamori, CFO of ENGIE Brasil Energia.

CEO Eduardo Sattamini called Assú Sol a major step in ENGIE's renewable energy leadership in Brazil. “By 2025, this project will be fully operational, furthering our 100% renewable energy mission and expanding our 11 GW generation portfolio,” he noted.

The complex positions Rio Grande do Norte as a clean energy hub while advancing Brazil's energy transition. “With advanced solar technologies, Assú Sol maximizes efficiency and minimizes emissions, showcasing our commitment to sustainability,” added Paulo Muller, ENGIE's Implementation Director.
