ERG has commissioned the first 50MW wind farm in Scotland, with the remaining 36MW to enter operation next year.

The Sandy Knowe wind farm is located in Dumfries and Galloway in the south of Scotland.

According to the company, the wind farm will have a total installed capacity of 86.4MW with annual production of over 250GWh. It has been stated that the generated power will be sufficient to address the needs of around 55,000 households.

The project will be helpful to avoid the emission of 106,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

CEO of ERG Paolo Merli was quoted, “The group is continuing its path of organic growth in the UK, one of the priority markets for the development objectives in our renewable energy portfolio.”

He further stated that “the first batch of the Sandy Knowe wind farm adds to the 70.3MW produced by the Craiggore and Evishagaran wind farms in Northern Ireland.

These wind farms are in operation since this year itself. With this, the company’s installed capacity in the UK has reached over 120MW.
