European Energy has successfully brought Holsted Solar Park into operation, marking a major advancement in Denmark’s renewable energy landscape. With an approved capacity of 175 MW, the solar park can generate electricity sufficient to power approximately 45,000 European households annually.
Standing out as one of only three solar parks in Denmark directly connected to the high-voltage grid, Holsted Solar Park required advanced technical installations due to its significant size and capacity. These installations were completed in 2024 in close partnership with Energinet, the organization responsible for ensuring the stability of Denmark's electricity grid.
Poul Jacobsen, Executive Vice President and Head of the EPC department at European Energy, acknowledged the crucial role Energinet played in the project. “We have had a constructive and productive collaboration with Energinet, who guided us on the formal requirements and specifications needed to connect a solar park of this size to the high-voltage grid."
Energinet, in turn, emphasized the project’s importance for Denmark’s green transition. “To achieve Denmark’s climate goals, it is absolutely crucial that we connect large amounts of renewable energy production to our grid, and Holsted Solar Park is a significant contribution to this effort.”said Jeanette Bodi Sørensen, Department Head at Energinet.
