Explosions from Rooftop PV Systems Rock Various Areas of Beirut

Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) has reported a series of dramatic explosions involving solar panels and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah militants on Wednesday, following an earlier wave of pager explosions.

The explosions affected rooftop solar systems across various neighborhoods in Beirut, but details about the cause remain uncertain. It's unclear whether the blasts resulted from hidden explosives within the panels or were the result of an external attack.

The subsequent wave of explosions, involving walkie-talkies, has caused numerous injuries to Hezbollah members and civilians. This comes after an initial series of pager explosions the day before.

According to Reuters, citing the Lebanese health ministry, the second set of explosions has claimed 20 lives and injured over 450 people. The first wave of pager explosions resulted in 12 deaths, including two children, and nearly 3,000 injuries.

While Israel has not directly addressed the incidents, it has implied that the conflict with Hezbollah has entered a “new era.”
