Exus Renewables Acquires Lightsource bp’s 130 MWp Cibele Solar Farm in Portugal

Exus Renewables has acquired the 130 MWp Cibele solar farm in Portugal from Lightsource bp, marking a significant addition to its renewable energy portfolio in Iberia.

The project, located in Rio Maior and Cadaval, is expected to begin construction in the coming months and enter operation in 2026. Exus plans to enhance the facility’s capabilities with a potential wind component in the future.

This acquisition follows Exus' earlier purchase of the 51 MW Cascante wind farm in Spain, which is under construction and scheduled for completion in 2025. Exus continues to expand its presence in Europe, with over 6 GW of renewable assets managed across the continent.

The Cibele solar farm supports Portugal’s renewable energy goals, contributing to the country’s aim of reaching 20 GW of solar capacity by 2030. Exus’ local team is also developing 200 MW of wind and solar projects in Portugal, with 70 MW under construction and 130 MW already operational.

The deal was advised by Cuatrecasas (legal), Mott MacDonald (technical), Capcora (financial), PLMJ (legal for Lightsource bp), and Enertis (technical for Lightsource bp).
