Fortis Energy is reinforcing its presence in Southeast Europe’s renewable energy market with the development of the 110 MWp Erdevik Solar Power Plant, featuring an integrated 31.2 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Šid, Serbia.
This hybrid solar and storage project represents a strategic investment aimed at enhancing grid reliability, integrating renewable energy, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Once operational, it will play a critical role in supporting Serbia’s energy transition and sustainability targets.
In January 2025, the project achieved a key milestone with the official approval of the grid connection study. By March 2025, Fortis initiated the formal agreement process with Elektromreže Srbije, the national transmission system operator.
The inclusion of BESS technology will ensure greater flexibility and stability of the grid by balancing supply and demand and mitigating intermittency from renewable generation.
This project reflects Fortis Energy’s long-term vision to be a leading force in the Balkans' clean energy future. With a growing portfolio of renewable assets across the region, Fortis remains committed to supporting decarbonization and energy independence goals through reliable, integrated solar and storage solutions.
