G7 Renewable Energies, Cennergi Holdings (a subsidiary of Exxaro Resources), and Northam Platinum have finalized a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 140MW Karreebosch Wind Farm, which will supply renewable energy to Northam’s mining operations in South Africa.
Located between the Western and Northern Cape provinces near Sutherland, the wind farm will feature 25 Goldwind turbines, each with a 165-meter rotor diameter, designed to optimize energy generation for local wind conditions.
The facility is expected to generate 460GWh annually and will begin construction immediately, with Goldwind providing the turbines and Concor managing the balance of plant works, including the critical grid connection.
Project financing is being provided by Nedbank, Standard Bank, and Absa Bank. The Karreebosch Wind Farm is a major step toward enhancing South Africa's renewable energy capacity and supporting sustainable industrial operations.
