Malaysian clean energy firm Gentari Renewables is moving forward with the 243MWp Maryvale Solar and Energy Storage Project in New South Wales, Australia. The project, located 37km southeast of Dubbo in the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), will include a 408MWh lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage system (BESS).
The project secured a long-term energy service agreement (LTESA) with AEMO Services in 2023 to supply clean energy. It joins other major solar developments in the region, such as Lightsource bp’s 300MW Wellington North solar PV plant.
Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) will be handled by PCL Construction’s Solar Division, while Trinasolar and Contemporary Amperex Technology Australia will supply the solar PV modules and BESS.
Gentari’s chief renewables officer, Low Kian Min, highlighted the project’s role in grid decarbonization and renewable energy reliability, reinforcing Gentari’s commitment to Australia’s clean energy transition.
Originally proposed by Wirsol Energy Australia, the project became part of Gentari’s Australian portfolio after its 2023 acquisition of Wirsol. Construction is set to begin in Q1 2025, with commercial operations expected in Q2 2027.
