The Greenvolt group, through its subsidiary MaxSolar, has won 5% of the capacity put out to bid in a solar auction in Germany and has thus won the right to develop about 100 MW in projects in that country, according to a statement released on Monday.
The company pointed out that it “boosted its solar power generation capacity in the first auction held this year by Germany,” adding that, through MaxSolar, it “won, in total, 5% of the capacity put out to bid, acquiring the right to develop about 100 MW in large-scale solar projects in what is a reference market in renewable energies worldwide.”
The company indicated that Germany’s Federal Grid Agency went ahead “for the first auction of large-scale solar capacity this year, putting a total of around 1,950 MW up for auction,” with 347 bids having been registered, for a total of 2,869 MW, a figure above the amount put up for auction, “with MaxSolar, 35% owned by the Greenvolt Group, obtaining around 100 MW,” it indicated.
MaxSolar was founded in 2009 and is active in the development, implementation and management of solar photovoltaic projects in the German and Austrian markets.
According to Greenvolt, the company “is experiencing significant growth, with 34.5 MWp [megawatts peak] already built, 41 MWp under construction and 14.5 MWp ‘Ready to Build’, having this year acquired the SEAC Group in Germany.
In the same statement, the company led by João Manso Neto said that “the German market is now one of the leading markets for renewable energy worldwide, both in terms of installed capacity and the renewables ecosystem, including technology, suppliers, producers and consumers”, adding that “Germany’s latest policies for this sector aim to increase installed solar capacity to 300 GW by 2030”.
“In a highly competitive auction, Greenvolt, through its subsidiary in Germany, was able to bid for all the intended licenses, further strengthening its ‘pipeline’ of large-scale solar energy projects,” said João Manso Neto, quoted in the same note.
“Germany is an extremely important market for us, both for the reference it already is in global terms in the renewables segment, as well as for the ambitious goals set for 2030,” added Greenvolt’s CEO.
