Singapore-based Gstar Solar has received key solar equipment for its 3GW wafer manufacturing plant in Indonesia, marking the start of the installation phase.
The shipment includes monocrystalline growth furnaces utilizing the Czochralski (CZ) crystal growth method, equipped with fully automated control systems for precise management of critical parameters during crystal growth.
The plant will eventually deploy 120 growth furnaces and other advanced equipment. Construction began in April 2024, with trial production expected to start in May 2025.
Once operational, the facility will produce monocrystalline silicon rods and large silicon wafers, including 182mm and 210mm sizes.
Gstar Solar has other manufacturing hubs in Southeast Asia, including a solar cell plant in Thailand, a module assembly plant in the Philippines (currently in equipment installation), and an aluminium frame plant in Laos.
The company also plans to build a 2GW module assembly plant in the UAE in collaboration with the Siraj Group.
