Singapore-based renewable energy developer Gurīn Energy has completed its first operational project in the Philippines—a 75MW solar power plant in Palauig, Zambales Province.
Spanning 80 hectares, the Palauig Solar Power Plant features 136,363 energy-efficient solar panels, generating clean electricity that will offset 53,100 metric tons of carbon emissions annually, equivalent to removing 11,500 combustion-engine cars from the roads. The project is owned by Shizen Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Gurīn Energy.
The solar plant is backed by project financing from UnionBank of the Philippines. Additionally, Gurīn Energy has partnered with AboitizPower’s retail electricity units, Adventenergy Inc. and Adventpower Inc., for the offtake, ensuring a stable supply of renewable energy to commercial and industrial customers.
To inspire the next generation in clean energy, Gurīn Energy has launched the Cari Leviste Azores Visit Solar Education Programme, an immersive experience for public school students at the Palauig solar farm, set to open in October 2025.
Named in honor of Cari Leviste Azores, who played a key role in the project’s development, the program is free for all primary and secondary schools in the Philippines.
Joey Leviste Jr., Senior Advisor to Gurīn Energy and Chairman of Shizen Inc., emphasized the importance of developing local talent in renewables as the Philippines aims for 35% renewable energy in its power mix by 2030.
Through its solar initiatives and education programs, Gurīn Energy reaffirms its commitment to supporting the Philippines' clean energy transition.
