HDJP has acquired a majority stake in the 50MW/104MWh Helios I battery energy storage system (BESS) in Sapporo, Hokkaido, through a Tokumei Kumiai agreement with Brawn Capital.
Developed by Manoa Energy and managed by Brawn Capital, Helios I is expected to be operational by late 2025, with Hokkaido Electric overseeing construction and maintenance.
The project supports Japan’s push for grid stability and decarbonization, helping manage solar curtailment by storing excess energy and releasing it during peak demand.
Brawn Capital, a key player in Japan’s energy transition, is currently developing over 1GW of BESS projects. Finergreen acted as Brawn Capital’s exclusive sell-side advisor, assisting in transaction structuring, due diligence, and negotiations.
