Hydro Energi AS has partnered with Axpo Nordic in a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply Hydro's Norwegian aluminium plants with 263 GWh annually from 2026 to 2035.
This agreement secures a total of 2.63 TWh of renewable electricity, delivered from Sweden’s SE2 price area.
Renewable power is essential for Hydro’s low-carbon aluminium production, which reduces emissions by 75% compared to the global average.
The agreement is part of Hydro’s broader strategy to achieve zero emissions by 2050, and the company’s Nordic power portfolio includes 9.4 TWh of captive power production and an additional 10 TWh from long-term contracts.
This long-term contract is vital for Hydro's efforts to lead the global transition to low-carbon aluminium, with renewable power playing a crucial role in their roadmap toward zero emissions.
