ib vogt Wins Contract for Solar and Battery Storage for Indonesia's Diesel Replacement Programme

International solar developer ib vogt has secured a significant milestone, being awarded a cluster of 48 projects as part of Pt PLN (Persero)’s Diesel Replacement Program in Indonesia. Under this program, ib vogt will implement a blend of solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) across regions including Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Madura.

The aim of these projects is to diminish Indonesia’s dependence on diesel-generated power in smaller, isolated grids by introducing clean and dependable solar energy sources.

Tendered earlier in 2023 by PLN, this program encompasses the delivery of a total of 60MWp of solar capacity and 175MWh of storage capacity. These installations will supply power to PLN under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

David Ludwig, Managing Director of ib vogt APAC, expressed satisfaction at ib vogt’s selection by PLN for this groundbreaking initiative. He emphasized that the program aligns with their past experiences in Indonesia, particularly in developing and constructing utility-scale solar projects. Ludwig expressed eagerness to collaborate with partners in realizing this pivotal project in Indonesia.

In collaboration with its partner, Nusantara Power, ib vogt will execute and manage these systems across the Indonesian archipelago. The company will oversee project financing, provide EPC-Management, and offer Asset Management services. With an advanced development stage, construction is slated to commence in early 2025. This venture bolsters ib vogt APAC’s late-stage development pipeline, aiming to achieve a construction and operational capacity of 1GW by 2026.
