Invenergy, the largest privately held clean energy developer, has announced four new Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs) with Verizon, totaling 640MW. This brings Verizon’s total contracted capacity with Invenergy to over 1GW, furthering its commitment to sustainable energy.
Chris Orzel, Invenergy’s SVP of Origination, emphasized the importance of reliable, affordable energy: “Verizon’s trust in Invenergy highlights our ability to meet growing power needs while creating jobs, boosting local economies, and adding more American energy to the grid.”
James Gowen, Verizon’s SVP of Global Sourcing and Supply Chain & CSO, noted: “Reaching 1GW in clean energy procurement with Invenergy is a major milestone. This partnership strengthens our ability to power resilient networks that keep our customers connected.”
The newly contracted VPPAs span four states and two energy markets:
🔹 Richfield Solar (MD) – 50MW (Operational 2024)
🔹 Maple Flats (IL) – 250MW (Operational 2024)
🔹 Cadence Solar (OH) – 240MW (Operational 2026)
🔹 Chalk Bluff (AR) – 100MW (Operational 2027)
These projects will enhance regional grid reliability and provide clean energy credits to Verizon, supporting the transition to a more sustainable energy landscape.
