Iren Secures 30 GWh of Renewable Power with Statkraft in Long-Term PPA

Iren Mercato Spa, part of the Italy-based Iren Group, has secured a long-term agreement to purchase 30 GWh of renewable energy annually from Norwegian state-owned utility Statkraft AS.

This power purchase agreement (PPA), effective from January 1, 2025, will source energy from Statkraft’s solar photovoltaic (PV) parks over a 10-year period.

This deal complements Iren’s existing energy portfolio, which includes its own wind, solar, and hydropower generation. It will enable Iren’s unit, Iren Luce Gas e Servizi, to supply its retail customers with 100% renewable electricity, further supporting the company’s environmental sustainability goals.

Gianluca Bufo, CEO of Iren, said: "Thanks to this agreement with Statkraft, Iren diversifies its supply portfolio with long-term PPA contractual structures, providing its retail customers with totally green energy, thus ensuring the full environmental sustainability of its supplies also in the perspective of future growth of the customer base."
