JSW Energy and Reliance Power secure SECI’s 1 GW/2 GWh energy storage tender

SECI has awarded 1 GW/2 GWh of standalone battery energy storage capacity, with a monthly average cost of $4,551.33/MW. Out of the total capacity, JSW Neo Energy secured 500 MW, and Reliance Power won the remaining 500 MW at the second-lowest tariff rate.

SECI will enter into Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreements (BESPA) with the successful bidders to provide energy storage solutions to various buyers. The selected developers will establish and operate Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) at their chosen sites, following a build-own-operate model.

The developers must establish a BEss to make the energy storage facilityavailable to the buying entities for charging and discharging the systemas needed.

Bidders had to submit a single bid with a minimum cumulative projectcapacity of 50 Mw/100 MWh and a maximum cumulative capacity of 1,000 Mw/2,000 Mwh.

Through these projects, SECI will facilitate energy storage procurement on behalf of multiple Indian entities.
