AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are leaders in renewable energy capacity in Central Asia, according to the report released by the International Renewable Energy Agency.
Renewable energy capacity has grown in the Central Asian states for the last 9 years.
The biggest growth is reported in Kazakhstan from 2734 MW in 2014 to 5663 MW in 2023.
Due to hydropower, Tajikistan has relatively high renewable capacity in the region - 5763 MW. In Kyrgyzstan, renewable energy capacity made 3210 MW in 2023.
According to IRENA statistics, Kyrgyzstan is the only country in Central Asia where the overall renewable energy capacity in 2023 was lower than in the previous 10 years.
Thus, if renewable energy capacity made 3689 MW in 2017, in 2023 it made 3210 MW or by 479 MW less.
