The Power Transmission & Distribution Business of Larsen & Toubro has secured contracts for EPC orders in different Asian countries. It includes Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, India among others.
Larsen & Toubro is a multinational engaged in EPC Projects, Hi-Tech Manufacturing, and Services which operates in over 50 countries.
As per the agreement, the business has received an order to construct a 380kV substation in Saudi Arabia. This will be associated with transmission interconnections.
This is in line with its National Renewable Energy Program. It has been reported that it is focused on increasing the share of renewable generation in its energy mix.
In addition, the company has also secured an order to construct 275kV & 132kV transmission lines in Malaysia. It will be located on the eastern coast of the peninsula.
Similarly, it has also grabbed an order to establish a 500kV transmission line for enhancing system security in Thailand. It is under a consortium and based in the northern and central regions of the country.
T. Madhava Das, Whole–Time Director and Senior Executive Vice President (Utilities) of the company was quoted, “The logical next step after 100% electrification is to modernize our distribution systems with smart & intelligent elements.”
He further stated that the company is pleased to “facilitate evacuation and integration of renewable energy across multiple countries through timely and safe construction of high-capacity transmission systems to speed up global energy transition”.
