Lotus’s Stores Sdn Bhd has entered into partnership with Altervim Company in Malaysia.
The duo has already inked a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). With this, Lotus has entered into Phase 3 of its rooftop project.
Under the agreement, Lotus will install solar photovoltaic panels (PV) on its rooftops and at its Ambient Distribution Centre. It is located in Bukit Beruntung. Meanwhile, Altervim will invest in the 22 solar panels.
“The solar PV panels will collectively produce 20,000,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean electricity per year once the installation is complete in September 2023. This is equivalent to lighting more than 3500 homes per year.” Kenneth Chuah, President of Lotus Malaysia, was quoted in a statement.
It has been informed that the generated clean energy from the project will offset 9,585 tons of CO2.
Altervim’s area of work includes design, installation, and operation of solar PV systems.
According to Kenneth,“Through the Lotus’s-Altervim PA, this makes Lotus’s Malaysia the largest commercial PV installation in Malaysia to date.”
So far, Lotus’s Malaysia has 65 stores and two distribution centers in Peninsular Malaysia. The company has set a goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
