Malaysia’s Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has accelerated developing electric vehicle charging stations as part of renewable energy drive.
For this, TNB entered into a partnership with Gamuda Land, which is under Gamuda Bhd, to build two electron stations for electric vehicle charging. Malaysia’s first electron stations
The station will be located at Gamuda Land’s property development projects in Selangor. The duo has already signed an agreement for the same.
As per the local reports, the stations are expected to accelerate the development of the ecosystem and infrastructure for EV in the country. It has been informed that the electron stations will be powered by rooftop solar panels in the future.
According to TNB chief strategy and ventures officer Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan, the latest agreement would help the country to achieve net zero emissions goal by 2050.
“Supporting EV proliferation is part of TNB’s energy transition pillars. It is indeed the right step forward in realising the aspiration to provide a sustainable master plan, featuring climate-responsive design, integrated transport and super low energy building with smart features,” he was quoted in a report.
Urban transportation contributes about 23% of carbon emissions in Malaysia.
