MaxSolar GmbH has officially commissioned a 97 MWp solar park in Niederelsungen, a district of Wolfhagen in the Kassel region of Hesse. The project is among the largest of its kind in the area and represents a significant step toward strengthening regional renewable energy infrastructure.
Equipped with over 160,000 solar modules, the citizen-driven project has been designed with future scalability in mind. The site allows for the integration of DC-coupled battery storage and includes pre-installed cabling to support potential hydrogen production facilities — laying the groundwork for a multi-use clean energy hub.
The project was developed in partnership with BLG Project GmbH. SMA Solar supplied the first Sunny Central FLEX inverter, which was delivered successfully to the site without delays.
By combining large-scale solar with infrastructure for storage and hydrogen, the Niederelsungen project reflects the growing trend toward hybrid renewable systems. It also highlights the role of local communities in Germany’s broader Energiewende.
