Finnish clean energy solutions provider Meriaura Energy Ltd has signed a contract with a German utility to build a solar thermal field spanning around 12,000 square metres (129,167 sq ft) and thermal storage that will supply heat to the district heating network in the city of Luebeck.
The company, formerly known as Savosolar, said on Thursday it had signed a contract valued at almost EUR 5 million (USD 5.4m) with Luebeck Energie GmbH for the turnkey delivery of the plant.
In line with the agreement, execution of the project will start immediately. However, construction works in Germany can only start after the utility receives a building permit, Meriaura Energy said.
Nevertheless, the Finnish company expects to finalise the work on the plant in early 2025.
