National Grid Renewables has finalized a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency (IMEA) for the 150 MW Bee Hollow Solar Project in St. Clair County, Illinois.
Construction is expected to start in 2025, joining Prairie Wolf Solar in Coles County to expand the company’s solar capacity in Illinois to 350 MW.
Bee Hollow aligns with IMEA's Sustainability Plan to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, providing clean energy to member municipalities. IMEA CEO Kevin Gaden described the project as a vital step in transitioning to carbon-free power generation.
The project will create significant local benefits, including $34 million in economic impact over 20 years, new jobs, increased tax revenues, and dedicated charitable contributions. National Grid Renewables CEO Blake Nixon emphasized the company’s commitment to the Midwest and the project's potential for positive community impact.
