Naturgy’s GPG Launches Landmark 128-MW PV+BESS Project in WA

Global Power Generation (GPG), along with key partners, has officially inaugurated the Cunderdin Hybrid PV Solar + Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project—Western Australia’s first utility-scale solar and storage project, and Naturgy Group’s first hybrid project globally.

Capacity: 128 MW of solar PV + 55 MW/220 MWh BESS
Modules Installed: 229,500
Performance: Delivers 4 hours of steady peak supply daily
Impact: Offsets 140,000 tons of CO₂ annually; powers 51,000 homes
Workforce: 100 full-time equivalent jobs during construction
Community Benefit: Over A$229,000 invested in local initiatives
After over three months of intensive commissioning, the project has commenced full operations and now feeds into the South West Interconnected System (SWIS), expanding GPG’s footprint in Australia.
