Nofar Energy, the Israeli renewable energy firm, is set to begin construction of a 265 MW solar power plant in Corbii Mari, Dâmboviţa County, Romania—just west of Bucharest.
The project marks one of the largest PV developments in the country to date.
The company signed a turnkey EPC and O&M contract with a consortium led by Cox Energy (Spain) and Romania’s AJ Construction, part of AJ Brand. Legal advisory was provided by Clifford Chance Badea, marking their fourth collaboration with Nofar on Romanian clean energy projects, totaling over 650 MW.
Nofar acquired the Corbii Mari project in late 2023 and continues to scale up its Romanian portfolio. The company is also advancing other key projects, including Ghimpați (146 MW), Iepurești (169 MW), and Slobozia (74 MW)—the latter being one of the winners of Romania’s first contract for difference (CfD) auction.
Currently, Nofar holds a Romanian pipeline of 970 MW in solar and 120 MWh in energy storage. In neighboring Serbia, the company recently connected its solar park in Ada, the country’s largest, to the grid.
