Novo Holdings and European Energy have announced a joint venture to modernize 17 operational wind parks in Germany, significantly increasing their renewable energy production.
Initially commissioned between 2002 and 2008, these wind parks currently have a combined capacity of 151.9 MW. With advancements in wind turbine technology, the outdated turbines will be replaced with modern, high-efficiency models. Once repowered, the parks are expected to more than triple their capacity, generating over 1,100 GWh of clean electricity annually—enough to power approximately 290,000 European households.
The repowering projects are in advanced development stages, with most rights secured. Construction readiness is anticipated between 2025 and 2027, and operations are projected to begin between 2027 and 2030.
This initiative builds on a successful collaboration between Novo Holdings and European Energy, which began in 2021. Their earlier partnership, including Sampension, focused on developing solar and wind farms in Denmark and Sweden, emphasizing sustainable land use that integrates biodiversity and climate benefits.
By updating Germany’s wind energy infrastructure, this joint venture demonstrates a strong commitment to accelerating the energy transition and fostering a more sustainable future.
