Orsted and T&T Group have inked a deal with Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment’s National Innovation Center (NIC) for offshore wind.
They have signed a five-year cooperation agreement, which is aimed to boost “technical capacity and build technological expertise in Vietnam’s emerging offshore wind sector.”
It has been reported that the deal was inked as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Danish-Vietnamese diplomatic relations. The event was witnessed by Vice Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc of MPI and Vice Minister Dang Hoang An of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The goal of partnership is to launch an Offshore Wind R&D and training centre under NIC.
According to the companies, it brings together offshore wind researchers and technology providers in a same platform along with universities and research institutions to accelerate Vietnam’s offshore wind industry.
Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment, commented, “This will act as a focal point for human resource development, technology transfer, supply chain development and research to make offshore wind a success in Vietnam.”
Meanwhile, Sebastian Hald Buhl, Country Manager of Ørsted Vietnam, remarked, “Ørsted is proud to join forces with the National Innovation Center to nurture the future talent and technology which will drive Vietnam’s transition to green energy in the decades ahead.”
The companies have pledged to work together to deliver high quality and competitively priced offshore wind for Vietnam.
