Partners Group, a major global private markets firm, has agreed to sell Greenlink Interconnector, a 504 MW subsea electricity link between Great Britain and Ireland, to Baltic Cable AB and Equitix. The transaction values Greenlink at over €1 billion.
Partners Group acquired Greenlink in 2019, took full ownership in 2021, and led it through financial close, construction, and initial operations, which commenced on time in early 2025. The company played a key role in securing financing and managing top-tier suppliers, making Greenlink the first project-financed interconnector completed in Europe.
Greenlink features two converter stations and a 190 km subsea high-voltage cable connecting Pembrokeshire, Wales, and Wexford, Ireland. It has the capacity to power 380,000 homes and benefits from regulatory Cap & Floor mechanisms, ensuring stable cash flows and inflation-linked revenues.
Beyond enhancing grid stability and energy security, Greenlink improves renewable energy integration across both countries, supports market competition, and strengthens European energy market connectivity.
