Potentia Energy has announced the completion of a major acquisition, securing controlling stakes in a portfolio of more than 1 GW of renewable assets across Australia. The deal, made possible through an agreement with CVC DLF and Cbus Super, includes shares in Bright Energy Investments (BEI)—a joint venture with Synergy, a Western Australia state government-owned entity.
This acquisition positions Potentia Energy—co-owned by Enel Green Power and INPEX—as one of the largest renewable energy companies in Australia. CEO Werther Esposito stated that the move is a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy, emphasizing the support of its shareholders and the potential to unlock substantial growth opportunities.
The diverse portfolio includes over 700 MW of operational wind and solar projects spread across multiple states and the Australian Capital Territory, along with 430 MW of late-stage developments like Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in South Australia and Queensland. Key operational assets include:
Warradarge Wind Farm (Stage One, WA)
Greenough River Solar Farm (WA)
Albany Grasmere Wind Farm (WA)
Clare Solar Farm (QLD)
Royalla Solar Farm (ACT)
Bungala Solar Farm (SA)
Potentia Energy's existing operating portfolio already comprises over 400 MW of solar capacity in South Australia and Victoria, as well as a 75 MW wind farm in Western Australia. Ongoing projects include a 98 MW solar and 20 MW battery hybrid initiative in New South Wales.
With a development pipeline of over 7 GW secured, the company is poised for rapid growth, aiming to significantly expand its footprint in wind, solar, storage, and hybrid projects across Australia.
